LupusWe offer comprehensive care for the patient with lupus by a team of physicians which includes rheumatologists, nephrologists, neurologists, psychiatrists, orthopedists, and dermatologists backed by a full range of other medical and surgical specialists affiliated with the New York University Medical Center. We have several faculty whose practice is focused to the care of patients with lupus. Patients may be seen in the Rheumatology Faculty Practice or in the hospital Lupus Clinic. Patient care is assisted by use of a computerized data base and the SLEDAI (SLE Disease Activity Index). Our Clinical Immunology Laboratory provides us with the ability to measure disease activity by auto-antibody detection as well as by measurement of complement activation. We are conducting clinical trials for several new treatment of lupus through our Ambulatory Care Research Center (ACRC). Our orthopedic surgeons have special expertise in treating orthopaedic complications of lupus such as avascular necrosis. We offer a full range of diagnostic x-ray, CT, and MRI services and offer a variety of inpatient and outpatient physical therapy programs including pool therapy. |
